Best Adult Payment Processors and Merchant Accounts

Adult websites cannot assume that the same payment stack used by a normal SaaS product or ecommerce store will work for them. Porn paysites, creator platforms, cam businesses, adult dating services and NSFW AI products are commonly treated as high-risk because acquiring banks and card networks scrutinize recurring billing, disputes, fraud, content legality, performer or creator verification and moderation more closely.

This guide compares adult payment processors, merchant-account providers, payment gateways and crypto processors that explicitly work with adult or closely related high-risk businesses. There is no artificial overall ranking: CCBill, Segpay, Verotel and CentroBill are specialist billing options; Corepay, MobiusPay, High Risk Pay, Host Merchant Services, NETbilling and PaymentCloud are closer to direct merchant-account infrastructure; and NOWPayments and Inqud solve the separate problem of accepting cryptocurrency.

Quick picks

If you only need a starting shortlist, choose by business model rather than by the lowest advertised transaction fee.

CCBill — best all-round starting point for many adult businesses

One of the most mature specialist options for fan and creator platforms, live cams, premium content, adult dating and streaming. It supports subscriptions, hosted or embedded checkout, API integrations, local payment methods and fraud/chargeback tooling. Final availability still depends on the merchant entity, country and underwriting.

Segpay — strong for subscriptions and compliance-heavy platforms

A specialist adult and dating processor with recurring billing, fraud controls, chargeback mitigation and dedicated high-risk onboarding. It is particularly relevant when your business involves user-generated content, performers, creators or other workflows that require more detailed compliance review.

Verotel — unusually transparent IPSP pricing

Verotel publishes a simple entry-level model for high-risk online businesses. Its Basic plan currently lists a 15.5% transaction rate, a €500 annual registration/compliance fee and a 10% six-month rolling reserve, while Premium uses volume-based pricing for established merchants.

High Risk Pay — public adult merchant-account pricing

A US-focused high-risk merchant-account provider with a dedicated adult offering. Its current public rate table lists Adult Merchant pricing from 2.95% + $0.50 per transaction and $9.95 per month. Those headline numbers are not directly comparable with an IPSP such as Verotel because underwriting, gateway, card-brand and other costs can differ.

Host Merchant Services — broad adult coverage with global onboarding

A merchant-account option for subscriptions, streaming and cam platforms, dating, pay-per-view and adult ecommerce. It advertises global onboarding, interchange-plus pricing, gateway choice and hands-on chargeback/fraud support rather than one flat adult rate.

MobiusPay — notable option for Adult AI and NSFW AI

MobiusPay markets dedicated adult processing as well as a separate Adult AI / NSFW AI solution. That makes it worth pre-clearing for creator platforms, subscription businesses and generative-AI products that may not fit a traditional adult processor's standard onboarding path.

NOWPayments — straightforward crypto add-on

Useful when you want cryptocurrency alongside card processing. NOWPayments has a dedicated adult-industry product page and publicly advertises a starting crypto processing fee of 0.5%. Crypto can broaden payment choice, but it normally should not be treated as a drop-in replacement for cards in a mainstream B2C checkout.

Contents

Why adult payment processing is different

From the buyer's point of view, entering a card number on an adult site can look exactly like paying for any other online subscription. The merchant side is very different. Adult businesses are often placed in high-risk acquiring categories, and a processor may evaluate not only chargebacks and fraud but also the type of content, how creators or performers are verified, whether user uploads are moderated, how subscriptions can be cancelled and which countries are involved.

This is not only payment-industry marketing. Visa says that legal adult-content merchants carry an elevated risk of illegal activity, require enhanced safeguards from their acquirers and go through an enhanced registration process with closer monitoring. That helps explain why a legally operating adult business can still face deeper onboarding than a conventional ecommerce store.

This is also why “supports high-risk businesses” is not enough. A provider may accept supplements, travel or gaming while refusing explicit adult content. For the main shortlist below, we required current first-party evidence that the company serves adult, creator, dating or closely related age-restricted merchants.

PSP, PayFac, IPSP and merchant account — in plain English

ModelWhat it means for the website ownerMain advantageMain trade-off
PSP / IPSP / PayFacThe provider boards you into its processing framework and handles a large part of the payment and compliance infrastructure.Usually simpler to launch than assembling your own acquiring stack.Often higher percentage pricing and less control over routing.
Direct merchant accountA dedicated merchant account is placed with a suitable acquiring bank, normally through a high-risk payments specialist.More control and more room for custom routing and negotiated economics.Deeper underwriting, more documentation and greater operational responsibility.
Payment gateway / orchestrationThe gateway connects checkout, fraud controls, subscription logic and one or more acquiring routes.Useful for larger platforms that need routing, retries or multiple processors.A gateway alone does not guarantee that an acquiring bank will accept your adult business.
Crypto processorThe customer pays with cryptocurrency and the provider handles checkout, conversion and/or settlement. An additional global payment rail without card chargebacks.Wallet UX, volatility, KYB/AML and lower consumer familiarity create different friction.

The labels overlap. One company may offer a PayFac model, merchant accounts, a proprietary gateway and payment orchestration at the same time. What matters is the specific route offered to your legal entity, website, business model and customer countries.

Adult payment processor comparison

This table is a shortlist, not a universal ranking. Merchant availability is intentionally shown instead of a simple recurring-billing column: nearly every serious provider here can support subscriptions, while the country in which your business can actually be boarded is often the more important differentiator.

“Worldwide” and “global onboarding” are marketing signals, not approval guarantees. Sanctions, ownership, banking, local law, business model and acquiring relationships can still make an otherwise supported country unavailable to a specific merchant.

Cards and subscriptions

Specialist adult payment processors

These providers are closest to the classic “adult payment processor” search intent: adult or high-risk online entertainment is an explicit part of their current business.

CCBill

Long-established adult payment infrastructure for creator/fan sites, cams, paid content, dating and streaming with several checkout options.

  • Adult-first
  • Subscriptions
  • Hosted / embedded / API

Segpay

Adult and dating processing with recurring billing, fraud controls, chargeback mitigation and dedicated high-risk compliance workflows.

  • Adult & dating
  • Recurring billing
  • Compliance focus

Verotel

High-risk IPSP with a transparent Basic plan for newer businesses and a volume-based Premium model for established merchants.

  • Public rates
  • Subscriptions
  • FlexPay API

CentroBill

Adult payment gateway and orchestration stack with subscription recovery, smart routing, decline cascading and alternative payment methods.

  • Smart routing
  • Rebilling
  • NATS integration

CCBill — the broadest specialist starting point

CCBill explicitly lists adult toy ecommerce, adult cam, fan sites, content platforms, adult dating and streaming among the business models it serves. It also says it does not impose minimum or maximum transaction-volume requirements, which makes the application path relevant to both startups and larger established merchants.

Integration options include hosted FlexForms, embedded JavaScript forms and API forms. Subscription businesses can use recurring billing and member-management tooling together with webhooks or postbacks, fraud controls and several localized payment methods.

Main caveat: global buyer acceptance is not the same as global merchant onboarding. CCBill states that Visa/Mastercard merchants need a business and legal presence in a designated country, so confirm entity eligibility before building your checkout around it.

Segpay — subscriptions with a strong compliance layer

Segpay's current adult processing pages explicitly cover adult, cam, fan and dating merchants. Its stack includes recurring billing, a secure gateway, fraud monitoring, chargeback mitigation and high-risk onboarding.

The differentiator is not a single flashy checkout feature but the company's long-running focus on high-risk compliance. That matters for platforms with creators, performers or user-generated content, where payments cannot be separated from identity checks, moderation, complaint handling and the underlying content policy.

Segpay maintains operations and merchant pathways across major US and European markets, but any specific entity or country should still be pre-cleared before engineering work begins.

Verotel — transparent IPSP economics for a smaller project

Verotel explicitly serves high-risk online entertainment businesses and publishes its core price structure. The current Basic plan lists a €500 annual registration/compliance fee, a 15.5% non-recurring transaction rate, a 1.5% surcharge on recurring transactions after the first charge and a 10% six-month rolling reserve.

Premium is aimed at established or higher-volume merchants and uses lower volume-based rates, with multi-currency support and additional functionality. Verotel's public “worldwide” merchant wording is useful as a signal, but it should not be read as a guarantee that every jurisdiction, owner or business model will pass KYC, sanctions screening and underwriting.

CentroBill — for a more complex payment architecture

CentroBill is relevant when one checkout route is no longer enough. Its adult-industry stack includes subscription billing, trials, smart routing, decline cascading, rebill recovery, fraud/chargeback tools, alternative payment methods, multi-currency support and NATS integration.

That becomes more valuable as a platform expands across countries or acquiring relationships. The problem changes from “can I accept a card?” to “which route should receive this transaction, what happens after a soft decline, and how do I reduce dependence on one bank or processor?” Pricing is quoted rather than presented as a universal adult rate.

Dedicated acquiring

Adult merchant accounts and payment gateways

This group is more relevant when you want a dedicated merchant account, a proprietary or third-party gateway, more control over acquiring or custom pricing. Expect deeper underwriting than with a simple aggregated billing model.

Corepay

Creator-content merchant accounts with an in-house gateway, subscriptions, age-verification tooling, fraud controls and multi-bank routing.

  • Merchant account
  • Own gateway
  • Multi-bank routing

MobiusPay

High-risk merchant accounts for adult businesses with a dedicated offering for Adult AI and NSFW AI products.

  • Adult merchant accounts
  • NSFW AI
  • Recurring billing

High Risk Pay

US-focused adult merchant accounts with public headline pricing, recurring billing and online gateway support.

  • Public adult pricing
  • Subscriptions
  • US-focused

Host Merchant Services

Adult merchant accounts for subscriptions, cams, dating, PPV and retail with gateway choice and global onboarding claims.

  • Interchange-plus
  • Global onboarding
  • Gateway choice

NETbilling

Merchant-account and gateway services with recurring membership billing plus card and ACH/eCheck capabilities for high-risk merchants.

  • Gateway
  • Recurring
  • ACH / cards

PaymentCloud

High-risk merchant-account provider that explicitly supports adult creators, photography, dating, adult games and related businesses.

  • Adult merchants
  • Account manager
  • Underwriting

Corepay — direct infrastructure for creator and adult businesses

Corepay says it operates its own payment gateway and maintains dedicated banking relationships for creator content. Its published stack includes subscription billing, age-verification tools, real-time fraud controls, chargeback alerts and payment orchestration across multiple banks.

The company currently highlights merchant coverage in the United States, European Union, United Kingdom and Australia. As with any high-risk merchant account, the ability to accept international customers does not automatically mean the merchant entity can be incorporated anywhere.

MobiusPay — strong current fit for adult subscriptions and NSFW AI

MobiusPay has a dedicated adult payment-processing offering covering subscription sites, dating, video, live entertainment, digital creators and other adult businesses. Its separate Adult AI / NSFW AI page is particularly relevant because generative products can receive a different risk assessment from a conventional paysite even when both are adult.

For AI companion apps and NSFW generators, MobiusPay specifically discusses recurring subscriptions, token or credit billing and pay-per-use models. Treat its global coverage claims as the start of a sales conversation rather than guaranteed merchant eligibility: the actual route still depends on entity country, owners, business model, customer countries and underwriting.

High Risk Pay — one of the clearest public adult merchant-account prices

High Risk Pay maintains a dedicated adult payment-processing page covering subscription content, dating, live cams, adult products and other adult businesses. It positions itself as a merchant-account provider rather than an IPSP and offers recurring billing, ecommerce gateways, fraud tools and chargeback support.

Its current public rates page lists Adult Merchant pricing from 2.95% plus $0.50 per transaction and $9.95 per month. Treat that as a headline starting point, not a guaranteed all-in cost: the final account can still depend on underwriting, gateway setup, card-brand requirements, reserve terms and the merchant's risk profile.

The provider's own positioning is primarily US-oriented, so an international company should not infer eligibility from the existence of the online application.

Host Merchant Services — broad adult use cases and gateway flexibility

Host Merchant Services explicitly markets adult merchant accounts for streaming and cam platforms, adult dating, subscriptions, pay-per-view, novelty retail and clubs. Its adult page also advertises support for online subscriptions, PPV and tip-jar flows.

The provider uses interchange-plus pricing rather than publishing a single adult percentage, supports gateway options such as Authorize.Net and Transaction Express, and advertises global onboarding. As elsewhere on this page, “global” should be treated as a reason to ask for pre-approval, not as proof that every entity country and ownership structure is accepted.

NETbilling — gateway, memberships and bank payments

NETbilling has long offered online payment processing and lists Adult and Dating among high-risk verticals. Its product mix includes merchant accounts, a payment gateway, recurring membership billing and ACH/eCheck tools in addition to cards.

This can be more useful than a simple IPSP when you need greater control over your checkout stack or want bank-payment capabilities. Standard pricing from generic processing pages should not be assumed to apply to an adult merchant; high-risk terms are quoted separately.

PaymentCloud — brokered placement for harder-to-place adult merchants

PaymentCloud explicitly lists adult content creators, adult photography, adult video games, online dating and adult ecommerce among the categories it serves. Its model is application-led: an account manager reviews the business and helps place it with an appropriate payment solution.

That is useful when the main problem is not finding a gateway feature but finding an acquiring relationship that accepts the exact business. It also means there is no universal adult rate to compare before underwriting.

Alternative payment rail

Crypto payment gateways for adult businesses

Crypto solves a different problem from card acquiring. It can add payment choice and reduce card-network dependence, but it does not remove KYB/AML, tax, sanctions or user-experience considerations.

NOWPayments

Crypto gateway with a dedicated adult-industry product page, mass payouts and a publicly advertised starting fee.

  • Adult-friendly
  • Crypto checkout
  • Mass payouts

Inqud

Crypto payment gateway with recurring-payment tooling for fixed subscriptions and on-demand billing flows.

  • Crypto subscriptions
  • Hosted checkout
  • SDK

NOWPayments — simple crypto acceptance as an additional channel

NOWPayments maintains a dedicated adult-industry page and advertises a starting 0.5% deposit fee for crypto processing. The broader platform includes checkout tools, custody/conversion options and mass payouts.

The important limitation is consumer behavior. A low processing fee does not help if most customers do not own crypto or abandon the wallet flow. For many subscription and creator businesses, crypto works best as an additional method beside cards rather than as the only way to pay.

Inqud — useful when recurring crypto billing matters

Inqud offers crypto payment infrastructure for adult businesses and recurring Web3 payments. Its recurring product supports fixed subscription plans and on-demand payment scenarios with hosted checkout or SDK integration.

Business onboarding includes KYB. As with any international crypto provider, confirm merchant-country eligibility, settlement, supported assets and compliance requirements before using marketing language such as “global” as a substitute for an approval decision.

Which adult payment processor fits your business?

These are starting routes, not approval guarantees. Two businesses in the same vertical can receive very different terms because their companies, content, history, transaction volumes, customer countries and chargeback profiles differ.

What adult payment processing really costs

Comparing processors only by the headline percentage is misleading. A high-risk payment stack can include several cost layers.

  • Processing rate. A percentage of the transaction and sometimes a fixed fee.
  • Recurring surcharge. Rebilling may be priced differently from the initial purchase.
  • Card-brand registration. Certain high-risk categories can require additional registration and monitoring costs.
  • Rolling reserve. A percentage of processed funds is temporarily held to cover future disputes or liabilities.
  • Authorization or decline fees. Some contracts charge for attempted authorizations, including failed ones.
  • Chargeback and dispute costs. Alert services, representment and dispute handling can have separate economics.
  • Cross-border and FX costs. Merchant region, acquiring region and buyer currency all matter.
  • Setup, monthly, gateway and payout fees. The combination varies by provider and contract.

A rolling reserve is not the same as a transaction fee. If the reserve is 10%, the processor temporarily retains part of eligible volume and releases it according to the reserve schedule if conditions are met. For a new subscription business, that cash-flow effect can matter as much as the headline rate.

Verotel and High Risk Pay show why rates from different processing models should not be compared in isolation. Verotel Basic currently combines a 15.5% non-recurring rate with a €500 annual registration/compliance fee and a 10% six-month rolling reserve. High Risk Pay publishes an Adult Merchant headline rate from 2.95% + $0.50 and $9.95 per month, but a dedicated merchant account can have different underwriting, gateway, card-brand, reserve and acquiring costs. Compare the full expected cost on your own volume and business profile.

What underwriters will review

Underwriting is the business and risk review performed before a processor or acquiring bank opens a route for you. Adult underwriting is usually more detailed than onboarding a conventional low-risk SaaS business.

  • Company and owners: incorporation documents, beneficial owners, KYC/KYB and settlement bank account.
  • Website: a working URL, clear product, pricing, contact information, Terms, Privacy Policy and refund/cancellation policy.
  • Content: legality, prohibited-content rules, rights management and complaint/takedown processes.
  • Age and consent controls: how performers, creators and participants are verified where applicable.
  • User-generated content: moderation, reporting, appeals and removal workflows.
  • Billing model: one-time sale, trial, subscription, credits/tokens, tips and cancellation flow.
  • Processing history: statements, dispute and refund ratios and any previous termination.
  • Geography: where the merchant is incorporated, where owners and banking are located and where customers are expected to pay from.

Choose and pre-clear payment providers before you build the entire product around one billing model. For a complex platform, send a concise description of the business to several adult-friendly providers and compare actual pre-approval feedback instead of only comparing landing pages.

Payment processing for NSFW AI needs separate pre-clearance

“We work with adult” does not automatically mean a processor accepts generative AI. An NSFW AI product can introduce a different risk profile: users may write unrestricted prompts, upload images, generate realistic people or create material that is not reviewed before delivery.

MobiusPay has a dedicated Adult AI / NSFW AI processing offering, while Segpay has also published industry guidance around NSFW AI and high-risk compliance. Corepay separately markets payment processing for adult AI chatbot platforms. This is enough to treat Adult AI as a distinct underwriting case rather than assuming any adult processor will board it unchanged.

Before applying, be ready to explain prompt restrictions, upload rules, moderation, real-person likeness policy, age controls and complaint handling. If your product also depends on third-party generation infrastructure, our NSFW AI API guide compares developer providers from the separate perspective of model access and content policy.

International merchants: entity country, buyer GEO and settlement are different

When a provider says it processes globally, separate three questions:

  1. Can a company incorporated in your country become the merchant?
  2. Can that approved merchant accept payments from customers in your target countries?
  3. Can the processor settle funds into the bank account and currency your business can actually use?

CCBill gives a clear example: its merchant documentation says Visa/Mastercard applicants need business and legal presence in a designated country. Corepay currently highlights merchant processing in the US, EU, UK and Australia. Host Merchant Services markets global onboarding, while Verotel markets accepted merchants as worldwide. These are useful signals, but underwriting, KYC, sanctions, ownership and banking restrictions still apply.

Do not infer merchant eligibility from a localized website, the ability to accept cards issued in a country, or generic “global coverage” marketing. Confirm your exact company jurisdiction, owners, settlement bank and business model with sales or compliance before paying development or incorporation costs around a processor.

Secondary candidates and providers we did not include

This section separates a still-relevant billing company whose current public adult onboarding is less transparent from providers that we intentionally excluded from the shortlist.

ProviderStatusWhy
EpochSecondary candidateThe current merchant portal still offers payment-processing signup, and Epoch remains an established subscription billing brand. However, its public pages do not describe current third-party adult merchant onboarding as explicitly as CCBill, Segpay or the merchant-account providers above. Confirm the exact adult business model directly.
StripeExcludedIts current prohibited-business rules exclude pornography/mature sexual content and related adult services, so it should not be treated as a normal processor for an explicit adult product.
Durango Merchant ServicesExcludedA high-risk specialist, but its current application guidance excludes several adult-content and Adult AI categories. “High risk” is not the same as “adult-friendly.”
CommerceGateNot enough current evidenceIt has meaningful payment infrastructure, but we did not find sufficiently explicit current first-party confirmation that a new third-party adult merchant can rely on standard onboarding. Lack of a visible ban is not permission.
RocketGateNot enough current evidenceA technically relevant recurring/gateway platform with historical adult-industry ties, but the current public adult policy is not explicit enough for the main shortlist.
ProBillerNot an open general merchant optionAn active billing brand used inside major adult properties, but its public positioning does not present it as an open general-purpose merchant platform for an independent new adult business.

Application checklist

  1. Describe the business model in one paragraph. Say what you sell, to whom, in which countries and whether you use subscriptions, credits, tips or user-generated content.
  2. Ask whether the provider accepts your exact adult category. “Do you support high-risk?” is too broad.
  3. State the merchant entity country and ownership. This can change the available acquiring route before price is even discussed.
  4. Prepare the website for compliance review. Pricing, cancellation/refunds, contact details, Terms, Privacy Policy, complaint process and content rules should be live and coherent.
  5. Document creator, performer or UGC controls. Explain age/identity checks, moderation and prohibited-content enforcement where relevant.
  6. Explain the billing flow. Include trial terms, rebills, token/credit logic, tips, one-click purchases and how cancellation works.
  7. Bring processing history if you have it. Statements, volumes, chargebacks and refunds can materially affect offers.
  8. Ask for the full economics. Processing rate, fixed fee, reserve, registration, gateway, authorization, chargeback, FX and settlement costs.
  9. Ask what happens if volume grows. Larger merchants may qualify for lower rates or additional acquiring routes.
  10. Do not integrate before pre-clearance. A technically working API does not mean compliance has approved your content or business model.

How we selected adult payment providers

This is a buyer's guide, not a league table. We started with the major processor classes that an adult business may actually need and then checked current first-party product pages, merchant information, pricing where public and explicit adult/high-risk positioning.

  • Current adult fit: explicit support for adult, creator, dating or closely related age-restricted businesses.
  • Business-model coverage: subscriptions, VOD, live cams, creator platforms, dating, ecommerce and NSFW AI where relevant.
  • Billing capabilities: recurring payments, retries, alternative payment methods, gateways, routing and fraud/chargeback tooling.
  • Merchant access: whether the product is an open application path for third-party businesses rather than only an internal billing brand.
  • Merchant availability: whether current public information gives useful evidence about entity countries or onboarding regions.
  • Transparency: public rates, reserves and onboarding details when available.
  • Evidence quality: official provider and card-network pages take priority over generic “best high-risk processor” lists.

Payment terms can change quickly and underwriting is merchant-specific. We therefore avoid inventing exact fees where the provider uses quotes and do not treat marketing claims such as “worldwide” as a guarantee of approval.

FAQ

What is the best payment processor for an adult website?

There is no universal winner. CCBill and Segpay are strong specialist starting points for many subscription and creator businesses; Verotel offers a transparent IPSP model; Corepay, MobiusPay, High Risk Pay and Host Merchant Services are more relevant when you want merchant-account infrastructure; and crypto providers solve a different payment problem.

Can I use Stripe for a porn site or NSFW AI product?

Not when the business falls under Stripe's current prohibited adult-content criteria. Explicit adult content should be pre-cleared with a provider that openly supports the category instead of hoping a mainstream processor will ignore it.

What is a rolling reserve?

It is a portion of processed funds temporarily held to cover potential future disputes and liabilities. The percentage and release schedule depend on the provider and merchant. Verotel, for example, currently publishes a 10% reserve held on a six-month rolling basis.

Why can one adult processor quote 15% while another advertises about 3%?

They may be selling different processing models. An IPSP/PayFac can bundle more compliance and billing infrastructure into a higher percentage, while a dedicated merchant account can separate acquiring, gateway, card-brand, reserve and other costs. Compare the full contract and expected cash flow rather than headline percentages alone.

Is an IPSP easier than getting my own merchant account?

Usually, yes for a smaller new project: an IPSP or PayFac can take on more of the processing infrastructure. A dedicated merchant account becomes more attractive as volume grows or when you need custom acquiring routes, negotiated economics and more control over the payment stack.

Can crypto replace card payments for an adult business?

Technically it can, but for a broad consumer product it may reduce conversion because not every buyer owns crypto or wants a wallet flow. In many cases NOWPayments or Inqud make more sense as an additional payment method than as an automatic replacement for cards.

Are all high-risk payment processors adult-friendly?

No. “High risk” is a broad category. Some providers accept travel, supplements, gaming or other difficult verticals while explicitly refusing pornography, adult creators or Adult AI. Always verify the exact category from current first-party information and pre-clear the business before integration.
